Spanning multiple decades and continents, White Phoenix follows the parallel lives of Li CunYi and his sister Li CunXin, who were separated as children in the 1980s. The siblings, as well as their politically-entrenched partners, see a chance to reconnect during a 1993 diplomatic mission between the United States and China.
